1) How old were you? 19
2) Who were you dating? Most of the summer I dated a girl that was 17, going into her Senior Year of High School. She drove a really cool Ford Mustang and had great taste in music.
3) Where did you work? I worked for a two different local newspapers covering local news events and mostly sports as a stringer (freelance writer). I also had a publicity internship with a community theatre and did a pretty bang up job of organizing an annual heritage & arts festival which had been brought back after a year off and the infrastructure (i.e. money, vendors, volunteers, locations) had changed immensely. I was somehow much more accomplished at 19 than I am now at 34. I even directed a Youth Theatre company that year, taking them to State Youth Theatre convention where they performed for over a 1,000.
4) Where did you live? Austin, TX
5) Where did you hang out? Socially I would often hang out in the Westgate area of South Austin, including a Borders that was near my most frequented movie theater. A Borders that my future wife, only in high school at the time was working at. It’s possible we were there at the same time and crossed paths without realizing it. I know I wasn’t her type back then based on seeing pics of the guys she did like in that era of her life, although she claims that she would have had a crush on me had we known each other at that age.
6) Did you wear contacts and/or glasses? Nope.
7) Who were your Closest friends? My brother and I were sadly not as close anymore. So many of my best friends from high school had gone away for college or adventures. Other close friends were starting to do their own thing too. I was making new friends, including two great friends that were my parent’s age and who became my mentors.
8) How many tattoos did you have? None.
9) How many piercing did you have? None left at that point, had long since grown out of that phase.
10) What kind of car did you drive? 1997 Ford Ranger, it was my grandmother’s. She let me have it pretty much whenever I wanted, just as long as I drove her around when she need it. I miss that truck so much.
11) Had you been to a real party? Um, yeah. I had thrown legit raves in warehouse spaces already and made a decent buck off it by that point.
12) Had you had your heart broken? Not romantically, no. My teenage hormones certainly made me feel like I had, but there was no real heartbreak because I had never really fallen in love.
13) Were you Single/taken/Married/Divorced? Single. I wasn’t a player, but I did crush a lot.
14) Any Kids? No.

3) Where did you work? Austin Regional Clinic (M-F, 8-5). But I also worked various nights/weekends on call for an insurance adjusting company doing inspections at local crating companies.
4) Where did you live? Austin, TX (The Forest Apartments in the 78704)
5) Where did you hang out? Mostly at home. I was working a lot. When I did go out I went out in groups of friends that I was just a roving member of. Worked hard and partied hard during those years.
